For the second consecutive year, the Brazil Initiative at The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs hosted a student delegation from FACAMP (São Paulo/Brazil) for the 2018 Summer Program.
The GW ESIA Brazil Initiative Summer Program aims at providing the students a better understanding of the United States government and politics, the U.S. economy, and the international dimensions to the city of Washington, D.C through a multidisciplinary course that provides a comprehensive immersion in all these topics.
Among the activities covered in the schedule were lectures given by professors from GW; seminars presented by leading professionals; technical on-site visits to multilateral organizations; panels at think tanks and U.S. based firms; as well as cultural tours. The opening event was a remarkable one featuring as special guests Mr. Thomas J. LeBlanc, President of The George Washington University, and his wife Mrs. Anne LeBlanc. The students truly appreciated learning from President LeBlanc's knowledge and hearing great stories about the time he lived in Brazil.
The program was co-organized by Dr. Mark Langevin (Director with the Brazil Initiative) and Ms. Livia Lopes (Assistant with the Brazil Initiative) in partnership with FACAMP and its coordinator for International Programs, Dr. Sulamis Dain. The ESIA M.A. Candidate Gabriela Oliveira also collaborated to the activities.
We had a marvelous experience with the students and are delighted to share with our readers some pictures of the events:
